Trend: Yarn Wedding Inspiration

Yarn is undeniably getting its moment in the sun right now — wrapped, tied, knotted, and even tangled, DIY yarn projects are trending in the world of weddings and beyond!  We love the many ways to incorporate yarn into your big day.  Though crocheted or knitted projects are gorgeously intricate, you don’t have to be a master crafter to make something beautiful out of yarn.  Wrapping yarn around milk jars or monograms is a simple way to add color in a modern, but cozy kind of way.  Tying small yarn pompoms and hanging en masse can make a huge impact as a backdrop, while a yarn ball chandelier to top it all off simply deserves a “Wow!”

DIY: Fabric Hoops

When we traveled to New York a couple of years ago for the National Stationery Show, we were smitten with a little shop, Purl, we found while exploring the city.  Inside was a wall spotted with the prettiest fabric hoops you ever did see!  This simple DIY project is perfect for your wedding, nursery, or home decor.  With little miss baby Blair on her way, Lori and I crafted a few to adorn her sweet nursery walls!

Gather a few varying sized wooden embroidery hoops and your favorite fabrics.

Cut your fabric allowing about a half to three-quarters of an inch all the way around your hoop (more to be safe if you choose).

Lay your fabric, oriented as you’d like it to display, over the inner hoop and then simply press your outer hoop over the top, stretching the fabric taut in between.

Adjust as necessary and then simply trim the excess away on the backside.

Voila!  Aren’t they cute?  These are going to be perfect for baby Blair!  With different fabrics, you can tailor these to feature your wedding colors or coordinate with your home decor.
