We often share much of what goes on inside The Green Kangaroo‘s studio, but today we’re taking a look outside and visiting some of our neighbors. We’re right in the middle of downtown Cary, North Carolina, and though the area isn’t too big, it has quite a lot to boast. From unique wedding invitations (ah hem!), vintage finds, crafty goods, and hand-dipped ice cream, we think our neighborhood is pretty sweet.
Ashworth Pharmacy & Lunch Counter is quite the cure-all. Even when everything’s just peachy, you’ll still leave there happier than when you went in! Sure, they stock medicine to ease your symptoms, but it’s the super friendly staff that’ll really brighten your day. Ashworth is our go-to spot for morning coffees, chicken salad sandwiches, and afternoon pick-me-ups! Pictured to the right are Barbara and Al, two of our best Ashworth buddies!
Cute Buttons is also located just across the street in Ashworth Village. We visit owner, Alison, and her sidekick kitty, Tiki (pictured), pretty regularly to see what’s new and just say “Hi!” Alison stocks a lot of Lilly Pulitzer, Susy Jack, and locally monogrammed items. Most recently, I’ve had my eye on a Paper Source calendar and those super cute Susy Jack memo cubes! Make sure to pop in and give Tiki a little head rub some time and pick up the perfect gifts while you’re there.
LuckyPie Gallery is one of our newest neighbors and has quickly become one of the coolest! We love their funky style and re-use mindset. Twin sister owners, Ashley and Amanda are fun and crafty chics; they not only seek out retro goods for the gallery, but they upcycle a lot of them. LuckyPie is a great blend of funky old school treasures, revamped goodies, and cool local art. It’s likely the only place in town where you can pick up new earrings, a vintage sofa, and a coffee filter chandelier all in one stop!
We’re lucky to have such great neighbors… so many, in fact, that we couldn’t squeeze them all into one post! Over the next couple of months, we’ll be highlighting some of our favorite shops in the area. Next time you’re in town, grab a fresh-squeezed lemonade at Ashworth and come stroll around our neighborhood!
