I’m sort of obsessed with good food, but lately I’ve been in a bit of a culinary funk in my own kitchen. So wrapping my head around a menu for the Easter Brunch we’re hosting this weekend has been a bit of a challenge. Luckily, the witty and sarcastic musings of Joy the Baker got me back on track. Her posts make me laugh (and make me hungry, too!). My inspiration for our humble gathering starts with Joy’s Rosemary-Lime Cocktail (see her original post here). Lucky for me, the rosemary bush in my front yard has sprigs to spare!
Joy the Baker’s Rosemary Lime Cocktails:
- lime wedges
- ice cubes
- rosemary syrup (recipe follows)
- sparkling water
Fill a glass with ice cubes. Squeeze some lime in. Pour in a few tablespoons of rosemary syrup. Pour in a few more tablespoons of vodka. Top with sparkling water. Stir. Drink. Repeat.
Rosemary Syrup (1/2 recipe):
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
Combine all three ingredients in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and allow the sugar to dissolve. Remove from the heat, cover, and allow to rest for 30 minutes. Remove the sprigs of rosemary and allow to cool. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge.
